Can You Hear

A compilation of poems I wrote over a couple days.

Can You Hear
10-27-08

can you hear the foreign wind
singing alto to a chilly rain
and the old piano begins to play
through the silent mountain mist.
A voice flows forth o'er the barren field
through trees hung thin with dying leaves
distance glides into the void
with a winter colored breeze.

golden gated merry-go-round
gilded horses high off the ground
ride with me through the dancing lights
and all the brightened sound.
swirling skirts of purest snow
I take your hand and off we go
across the sea of polished faces
drenched in scarlet wine.
Bands of gold wound softly sweet
on firelight night our warm lips meet
time spins out in an endless waltz
as I fall asleep in your arms.

agonized
breaths
come
difficult.
every
frantic
gasp
heightens
insanity.
Juicy
kisses
lend
melodies
near
opera.
Please
race
so
the
universe
virtually
whimpers.

fire flickered from the grate
casting shadows on my face
my hands reached out to catch the moon
while the lost spirits sang.
The tumblers of the universe break
leaving destiny for me to shape
my fingers trace the braded thread
sewn by a sister of fate.
"create, create!" the witches cry
"call forth the energy or else you'll die."
So on this eve I take up the stones
and weave a secret spell,
forged from the flames of hell.
Children rush in frenzied glee
on this final Halloween
scary boys and princess girls
all lambs beneath the night.

Her name they sang with joyful glee
a shallow whore of ripe beauty.
With hair of gold and skin so fair
the masses knelt in reverent prayer.
The blade felt icy in my hand
its lines so sleek and sharp as glass.
A flash of light glanced off the tip
as I whirled it through my fingers.
One night I stood by her sleeping form
the night so cold and her breath so warm.
and with a smile I drew the knife
to end her precious life.
The skin slit open and blood spilled forth
in scarlet torrents of thin veins torn.
Dead eyes stared into my face
as I took a bow and left the stage.

Shadow backlit by eastern Sun
found fast to walk a winding path
climbs cracked steep stairs into the sky
past faceless spirits flashing by.
Clock face glows by crescent moon
to light the way for lost souls weeping
while in the dark her shadow's sleeping
her eyes closed soft in silken dreams
of azure air and silver streams
where he waits among the trees.
Solar flame sets fire to leaf
while shadow's gone to guard the day
from the forest stepped away
when music called up the morning.
Shell of joy seeks out the light
yet mind of magic longs for sweet night
and once stars come to show the way
all the poets come to play.
Shadow finds the silver stream
and secret lover in hidden tree
kept safe in folds of comfort fleece
when all returns to sleep.
